TIPS FOR PRACTICING HOT YOGA ONLINE It’s unprecedented. I have never seen the world mobilize so fast for a common good: to help each other thrive. Online courses, audio books, music available free. Teachers teaching everything from yoga to meditation to college courses. Creditors deferring payments. Our government in uncharacteristic bipartisan cooperation offering small business loans, extended unemployment benefits, even deferring the April 15 tax deadline and instead send us all checks! My fabulous friends, we are doing our part and bringing you Riverflow Yoga on FACEBOOK LIVE
Is hot yoga at home a good idea? It's not ideal - but it is the best answer for now. Here are some tips to maintain your balance and your health with our HOT YOGA on FACEBOOK LIVE!.
TIP 1: Stretching needs heat. Bust out a heater or two and focus that heat directly on you. A warm body, guided by our expert teachers instructions, moves more easily and safely
TIP 2: BREATHE Notice how often our teachers instruct you to breathe deep, before, during and between poses. Our sequence begins with Pranayama Breathing that: 1. Improves lung capacity – especially important now! 2. Settles your anxiety and calms your nerves - Pranayama can soothe a wave of panic almost instantly 3. Dramatically loosens your shoulders, back, wrists and more (you’re likely working at home at your computer more these days – you need this!)
TIP 3: Create a personal yoga space. It doesn’t have to be huge: just a small area where you can push aside a table or couch and lay out your yoga mat. Add things that are uplifting for you to have around – crystals, essential oils, you choose. If you need to be warmer, cover up in Savasana, or wear heavier clothes that still allow you to move easily during the poses
TIP 4: Congratulations to You! If you’re one of our Riverflow regulars, you may be accustomed to a more rigorous 60 or 90 minute HOT YOGA workout and that’s great – but we’re taking it just a little easier ONLINE because we cant watch over you personally as we do at our studio. So let go. Don’t judge yourself by thinking you’re not working hard enough. Relax and enjoy your hot yoga practice and it will serve you well. Especially now.
TIP 5: Fully relax in Savasana We do a lot of Savasana. Here’s a secret: Savasana is where the healing happens, where your body and your nervous system reset. Now more than ever you need this: • Savasana can be your lifeline to sanity • Always lie still as instructed and breathe deep • Give yourself permission to do a longer Savasana • The effects of a morning Savasana will last throughout your day creating calm focus when you need it most
If you can manage three classes per week with us LIVE on FACEBOOK, that’s great! Remember these sessions are saved on our FACEBOOK PAGE so you can do them whenever your schedule permits… over and over again… and we add fresh new classes every day Watch for our ONLINE MIDDAY MEDITATION coming to FACEBOOK LIVE soon Take care of yourself. Take care of each other. We are really all in this together – we always have been. Now we know this for certain ... See MoreSee Less
